Pastor Joel Langholz
Pastor Joel spent much of his youth on the beach in Florida but has called Washington home for over 20 years. He holds an M.Div from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California. Joel has been spiritually shaped by the writings of theologian Paul Tillich as well as the music of U2 and Radiohead. When he is not involved in ministry, he loves spending time with his wife Becky and their two children. He enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and spinning records. Prior to his ordination in the ELCA , Pastor Joel worked in a number of capacities, including as a Studio Assistant for glass artist Dale Chihuly, as a wilderness contractor in the Glacier Peak Wilderness, and as a cook. In addition to serving as Campus Pastor for LCM at WWU, Joel serves as pastor of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on the south side of Bellingham.
Emily is currently in her third year at Western, where she is majoring in History and German, as well as minoring in Political Science and Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Emily is also a member of the Young Democrats of WWU and Queer Christian Club. When she isn't studying or sleeping, Emily enjoys spending time with friends and family (especially her two dogs, Millie and Scarlet), watching documentaries, and exploring anything she can. A lifelong Lutheran and an avid church nerd, one of her greatest accomplishments is perfect attendance at Sunday School in 3rd grade.
Megan is in her second year at WWU, and is originally from Austin, Texas. She is planning on majoring in secondary education along with a minor in philosophy. She worked for several years as a counselor at her home church's summer camp. But little do they know that when she was in Sunday School in 3rd grade she cheated on her Books of the Bible test. In her free time, you can probably find her studying in various coffee shops around town (no longer cheating). She can also be spotted jamming out to Billy Joel in her beloved truck, Betsy, or rollerskating down the street.
